All members of your faith community are invited to a LOVE THY NEIGHBOR potluck at
the Parish Hall of the Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Dr, Charlottesville,
VA 22901 on Saturday, September 6th, at 5:30pm until 8:00pm.
LOVE THY NEIGHBOR is a group that is developing to support our immigrant
neighbors. It emerged from a Faith & Immigration gathering last month that drew 130
people from many different faith communities in the greater Charlottesville area who
are concerned about an immigration policy that is detaining people without violent
criminal offenses, separating children from their parents, and breaking up families.
At the LOVE THY NEIGHBOR potluck we will take up the good ideas proposed at the
Faith & Immigration gathering and form action groups to work on a variety of different
issues affecting immigrants.
Please invite others from your faith communities to come. The parish hall is large. Bring
a dish (and serving spoon!) that you would like to share, along with a label on a card that
lists the ingredients (some folks have dietary restrictions and/or food allergies). If you
don’t have time to prepare a dish, or if you decide at the last moment to come, don’t
worry! There will be plenty of food to share. We’ll have paper plates, cups, and flatware.
Drinks will be provided; and if you would like to bring drinks to share, that is fine, too.
(Please only non-alcoholic beverages!)
We ask that you sit at a table with others whom you do not know—as we did at the Faith
& Immigration gathering. It is a great way to meet others and form new relationships!
