Last year when the decision was made to close Holmes Institute, there was a public outcry: Why wasn’t the field told before the decision? We heard you, and we honor you. I was out in front of the field multiple times last year with the same message: *Our beloved Science of Mind magazine is in jeopardy.*
*This is the call for you to support the magazine. *We need everyone to rally to save it. We didn’t receive enough financial support in 2024 to turn things around, and moving to a digital-only magazine is being seriously considered, though we received an overwhelming amount of feedback that you prefer the print edition.
As I mentioned at a high level during the annual business meeting in mid-March, for the first time in more than 11 years, we have undertaken an independent valuation for CSL’s entire publishing portfolio, including the magazine and book imprints.
As a result of this valuation, we’re now in the early stages of exploring a possible publishing partnership with Unity Publishing. They are well equipped to support us in streamlining operations.
But a partnership like this takes time to develop and may not happen, and even if it does, it won’t be until the end of the year (or later). So we need your help to continue to print the magazine in 2025 and get back to financially thriving.
Our numbers are down every month: both subscribers and donations. This is a trend most print publications are experiencing as the costs of production and distribution continue to increase.
