Hi all,
I received an email, apparently from one of our members, asking to buy a $250 Amazon gift card for their niece. Since there’s a lot of scams going on I was suspicious and called… and learned that their email account had been hacked. So, all of their contacts are being emailed, asking for probably some form of gift card, Amazon or whatever.
Remember when someone starts asking for you to buy a gift card for them for whatever reason, it’s a good bet that it’s a scam. In this case the email looked like it was the person but is actually just a gmail account created with their name.
Be very careful. If you see something questionable, I am happy to help. Beware requests for any form of money be it money orders, gift cards, etc. Verify with the person it looks like it’s coming from, and never to anyone you don’t know. Report it to the police.
